Federal reserve raises federal funds rate

Changes in the federal funds rate can impact the U.S. dollar. When the Federal Reserve increases the federal funds rate, it typically increases interest rates throughout the economy. On January 30, 2019 the Federal Reserve said that it would keep its target range for its benchmark interest rate at 2.25% to 2.5%, the range it had announced at its meeting on December 19, 2018. In September, the Fed raised interest rates by 25 basis points to current levels, the highest recorded since April 2008.
